ABOUT THE BAND |
|
Don’t make the mistake of thinking Sacred Union is your typical rock, funk, pop band. In fact, their diverse repertoire covers songs from The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Prince, Hall and Oates, The Foo Fighters, Ed Sheeran, and Etta James, to Smash Mouth, Lenny Kravitz, Kid Rock, David Bowie, and so many other iconic world class artists.
It all began in 2015 when members Mark Lyman, Tabby, and Dave Hemingway crossed paths and became musical partners forming the high profile 8 piece funk band “B-Side Jones” performing at top venues and city concerts all over South Florida, including sharing the stage with national artists like Molly Hatchet, and The Rippingtons.
Five years later in October 2020, looking to streamline the lineup and move towards a slightly edgier sound, Mark, Tabby and Dave eventually found Nashville drummer/percussionist Tige Bucchino, and keyboardist Patrick Fazio to complete Sacred Union.
Sacred Union’s unique musical arrangements and driving performance are what makes every song stand out, and has the audience on their feet and dancing as they bring their infectious brand of rock, funk and pop to every show!!
Sacred Union is:
Tabby: Lead vocals/Saxophone,
Mark Lyman: Guitar/Backing vocals
Dave Hemingway: Bass
Tige Bucchino: Drummer/Percussionist
Patrick Fazio: Keyboardist

Mark Lyman
Born and raised in Montreal, Canada and surrounded by guitars since he was a toddler, Mark at the age of 10 discovered the album that would define his musical future - Jimi Hendrix's "Are You Experienced?" As a young, driven self taught and ear trained guitar player, he dreamed of recording albums and touring the world. Fast forward to 1982 at the age of 25, as the guitarist for the Canadian rock band "Luba" which he helped form, he signed a multi album contract with Capitol Records which led to recording with some of the industry's top Grammy Award winning producers like Daniel Lanois (U2, Peter Gabriel, Bob Dylan, Neville Brothers) and Narada Michael Walden (Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Steve Winwood, Al Green, Diana Ross).
Mark spent the next eight years writing and recording gold and platinum selling albums and performed to sold out arenas across Canada sharing the stages with the likes of Bryan Adams, Chris DeBurgh, Cheap Trick, Paul Young and Brian Ferry. During this time, Luba saw massive radio play for their various singles, all of which hit the Top 10 positions on the Canadian rock charts which led to winning numerous Juno Awards (Canada's Grammy's) for both music and videos. in 1986 "Luba performed at the Budokan in Tokyo Japan representing Canada in the Yamaha World Popular Song Festival and saw two of their singles "The Best is Yet to Come" and "Let It go" grace the opening credits of the major motion film 9-1/2 Weeks starring Kim Bassinger and Mickey Rourke.
In 1992, after a parting of the ways with the band, and a chance meeting with a top talent agent who would become his mentor, Mark decided it was time to hang up the guitars and move down to south Florida and launch a new career in the music industry as an agent/manager, representing some of the world's most noted classic rock artists. Twenty five years later when the itch to perform again resurfaced, Mark decided to take shot and answer a local ad looking for a guitar player and the rest is...well you know.
As the group's guitarist, Mark's comfort zone is on stage adding his funk fueled driving guitars to the mix, and being part of a S₳CRED musical ∐₦i⟴₦ with his band mates.
Tabby
Who would have thought that my mom's "Barry Manilow-Live" Album would be my inspiration to be a singer? True story."
Growing up in Louisiana, Tabby was surrounded by music. His family had an old piano in the house and both his parents noticed how easy it was for him to pick up songs by ear. My mom, she loved Barry Manilow, so I heard that record alot, and after some time, I figured I could do that too, and began practicing in earnest. While still just a young lad, he got the opportunity to be a "front man" for the very first time, courtesy of his uncles who were all musicians that played, sang, and performed locally at several different venues. One evening they asked me to join them onstage, so without hesitation, I jumped up, grabbed the mic, and belted out "Brown Eyed Girl." The audience went crazy, and my family knew they had unleashed my inner passion for music and live performance. I can't thank them enough.
After attending Louisiana State University where he studied music theory, composition and arranging, all of which have helped him enormously in his musical endeavors, he moved to South Florida and started singing and fronting several bands, all with a variety of musical styles, from an oldies group, to a blues band, a hard rock band, a pop rock band and let's not forget an Irish band....of all things. Finding himself most comfortable at center stage with Sacred Union, Tabby takes the excitement of leaving a vapor trail on his Ducati motorcycle combining it with the exuberance of performing to audiences across South Florida and parlays it into the best funk/rock party you'll experience at every Sacred Union Show!

David Hemingway
Dave Hemingway is without a doubt, the man who puts the funk in SACRED UNION!!
Starting on guitar at age 12 and then switching to bass several years later, music became his passion and eventually a way of life. Once he finished high school, Dave moved from Merritt Island, Florida to Lafayette Louisiana where he became entrenched in the local music scene and played with numerous projects.
Soon after he arrived in the Bayou State, a friend turned him on to 2 bassists making a big noise on the international jazz scene and blazing a path on the new frontier of jazz fusion - Stanley Clarke and Jaco Pastorius. Suddenly, bass took on a whole new meaning, and completely changed Dave's musical direction and goals. He spent some time as the bassist in the house band at the famed "Antlers Club" and had the pleasure of jamming with the legendary Dr. John on one of many great nights playing in New Orleans.
Dave eventually returned to south Florida where he raised a family and continued playing with various bands, one of which was an opening act for Ted Nugent. Needless to say, he's spent years studying and performing, and as all great musicians do, continues to perfect his abilities in the musical areas of funk, rock, blues, and jazz. As the bassist, and fondly known as the most "chill" member of SU, Dave has the ultimate responsibility bestowned upon him - to inject "the groove" that undeniably fuels Sacred Union - and boy he does it well!!
